History buffs can trace the “Chili Line”, a narrow-gauge railroad that connected Santa Fe, NM, to Antonito, CO, from 1887 to 1941. Furthermore, our guide will talk to you about El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, the historic trail that linked Mexico City to the Pueblo of Ohkay Owingeh. The “Royal Road”, located near Diablo Canyon, follows a mostly forgotten original route taken by Don Juan Oñate as he led the first group of settlers from Mexico City in 1598 thereby extending Spain’s reach into the New World.
