Our Mission and Team

Our mission is to enrich the lives of our guests by providing an adventurous, educational and rejuvenating Santa Fe vacation experience. Santa Fe Mountain Adventures was launched to enhance the experience of group and leisure travelers who visit the Santa Fe area while also attracting new adventure travelers to northern New Mexico. Santa Fe Mountain Adventures is managed by experienced staff, adventure leaders and an advisory board of tourism, destination management, hospitality, experiential education, personal development and marketing experts.

He retired early from Accenture, in 2002, to spend more time with his family and to pursue a second career aligned with his passions of outdoor adventure, destination management, health and fitness. Since then, Owen has studied Exercise Physiology and Outdoor Education, and is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certified Health Fitness Instructor. Owen is also certified in Wilderness First Aid. His hobbies include hiking, running, biking, skiing, triathlons and travel. He has climbed many fourteeners in Colorado, summited Mt. Kerry Helke - Adventure Director
Kerry joined Santa Fe Mountain Adventures in 2011 and was promoted to Adventure Director in 2012. Kerry enjoys working with our clients to create unique and fun programs that show-off the amazing city and surrounding areas of Santa Fe.

Prior to coming to Santa Fe Mountain Adventures, Kerry worked as an event planner for over twelve years and has had the great fortune to organize many amazing events involving Fortune 500 companies, celebrities and cool venues. She has planned everything from Galas to Golf Tournaments to Grand Opening Ceremonies. Since moving to Santa Fe ten years ago, Kerry has also immersed herself into fitness and the outdoors, becoming a certified Fitness Trainer, Red Cross Instructor and Outdoor Recreation Instructor. Kerry is very involved in the Trails Alliance of Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Fat Tire Society. She works hard to promote and gain new trail access as well as volunteering throughout the year on trail maintenance.

Kerry lives in Santa Fe with her husband, her baby son and her two shelter dogs. She loves to be active and enjoys being outdoors year-round hiking, running, cycling, mountain biking, backpacking, skiing or snowshoeing.

Pat Peterman - Destination Services Coordinator

Pat became a part of the Santa Fe Mountain Adventures team in 2013 as a guide and enjoyed it so much she started working in the office as the Destination Services Coordinator.

Managing projects and people comes naturally to Pat. For years, she’s found herself in the role of organizer in both corporate and non-profit environments and working in the media. Pat has orchestrated and executed everything from client cocktail parties, to concerts, to nightly news programs. Now she plans fun. When you combine Pat’s event planning experience, communication skills, and enthusiasm for anything outdoors, you get the perfect fit for Santa Fe Mountain Adventures.

Travel is Pat’s passion. She has explored the U. S. and wandered to every corner of New Mexico. Pat and husband Tom have been all over the world, including an extended stay in Israel. She recently organized and led a group of adults and students on a tour to India.

Pat and her husband live in Albuquerque and occasionally allow their three nearly grown children into their almost empty nest. You can find her camping, backpacking, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, cycling, canoeing or kayaking when she’s not busy planning exciting events for SFMA guests. Pat still enjoys her role as host and guide. She finds meeting diverse groups of people stimulating and providing them with new experiences rewarding.
